Bailiffing our waters

Club Bailiffs 2025-2026

Those identified below are the Club Bailiffs for the 2025-2026 season.  It is important that members know these people and support them in what can be a very challenging role.  The Committee will not tolerate abuse towards these individuals and any such behaviour will be taken very seriously.  These people are all volunteers who have agreed to give up their free time to help the Club to manage the waters and their support is critical in helping the Club to move forwards.

It is expected that all members will respond appropriately to any reasonable requests or instructions made of them by the Club Bailiffs.  Failure to do so will result in possible disciplinary action against the member.

Club Bailiffs are representatives of the Club and will treat all members and visitors to Club waters politely and with respect regardless of their age, disability, religion, gender, sexual orientation, background or ethnicity.  They will support inclusion and diversity in angling.  Unacceptable discrimination is not acceptable to the Committee.

The Voluntary Bailiff Service (VBS)

Bedford Angling Club is very fortunate in that we have a number of VBS qualified members in the Club. The VBS is a partnership between the Angling Trust and the Environment Agency which empowers anglers to support the police and EA in preventing poaching and fish theft to protect fish and fisheries. For more information about this service please follow the link on our useful links page.

Club Bailiff Risk Assessment

Please find below the Club Bailiff Risk Assessment.  All Club Bailiffs are expected to be familiar with this.
